ABSTRACT

South Bridge Road starts here on the very edge of the colonial administrative core of Singapore indicated on Lt Philip Jackson’s map of June 1828, where the major government buildings such as the Court House and later City Hall were located (Fig. 8.3). It terminates at the Jinricksha Station (1903) in the heart of Chinatown where it splits to form Tanjong Pagar Road and Neil Road, which run on either side of Duxton Hill (Fig. 8.4).
