ABSTRACT
Popular misconceptions of “environmentalism” as something politically neutral and for the common good have masked recent right-wing environmental mobilizations in the United States. Many people fail to recognize that organizing on environmental themes has always spanned a broad political spectrum. The general lack of analysis of the politics of environmental movements has itself abetted right-wing advances.
