ABSTRACT

Since 1998, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has experienced a succession of foreign invasions, internal conflicts, and mass murders. In approximately 12 years of conflict, it is estimated that more than 4 million people 1 have died, with another 1.5 million displaced. Clashes involving the DRC Armed Forces (FARDC), foreign troops from neighboring countries, and several main militia groups have caused a humanitarian catastrophe on Congolese territory.
