ABSTRACT
Can the physical environment reveal evidence of genocide? Can satellite images capturing environmental change corroborate documented eyewitness testimonies, published news reports, and scholarly research describing genocidal events? This chapter presents four case studies suggesting that remote sensing using satellite imagery can be a highly effective tool for studying genocide. Does it have the potential to play a greater role in genocide prevention, intervention, and evidence obtention?
