ABSTRACT
Urban concentration is a complex phenomenon which differs greatly from one country to another and in the course of the time and, as suggested by Henderson (2000), depends on the level of development. The urbanization process that occurred in Europe and in North America during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was quite different from the one currently observed. Some features of the present urbanization process are worth pointing out (Cohen 2003).
