ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the history of formation and development of the "agroecotourism" destination in Belarus. Agroecotourism in many countries appeared as an alternative activity for agricultural product producers, which was especially important in the crisis conditions when villagers were trying to find a way out of the difficult situation, searching for possibilities in other spheres of entrepreneurship. The chapter proves that among the factors contributing to the success in this sphere, its resilience to existing internal and external changes plays a pivotal role. Special attention should be devoted to resilience and adaptability of the owners of estates to unfavorable external circumstances. The chapter also provides the analysis of the existing agro-tourism estates in modern conditions. Resilience and adaptability of the agroecotourism sector in Belarus is expressed not only in the ability to recover in times of crisis, but also in anticipating and capturing new trends of tourism industry thus reshaping its forms and context.
