ABSTRACT

The article focuses on the issue of the resilient character of functioning of the rural destinations in Belarus. The geographical network of the tourism functions of the rural destinations in Belarus is typically represented by big sanatoria (the main health tourism stakeholders in the country) surrounded by almost autonomous farmsteads which operate within the concept of agro-tourism. The cooperation of these stakeholders within such sanatorium-center destinations can be realised both in terms of autonomous basic infrastructure, food and power supply, etc. and in creating resilient tourism products based on the authentic local healing traditions and other cultural and natural heritage unique for the destination. The article describes the geographical network of rural sanatorium-center destinations; reveals the current autonomous operation of the stakeholders in terms of the value chain creating; analyses the actual and perspective cooperation between them in creating sustainable and competitive tourism products thus contributing to the resilience of the destinations.
