ABSTRACT

The author summarizes the chapters in this book, which focuses on creative arts-based approaches to adolescent group therapy. She considers some of the struggles for adolescents and suggests reasons the arts may have value in addressing these challenges. The challenges of implementing such approaches with teenagers are addressed, including adolescent resistance. A case vignette from a 9/11 mural project in New York City is used as an example of the ways that art can be used to help teens work through their distress.
