ABSTRACT
This chapter tells the story of the physical literacy developments in Wales over the past decade and what triggered the interest at the start of the journey. Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales. The organisation is the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government, with a responsibility for distributing National Lottery funds to both elite and grass-roots sport across the country. The vision of Sport Wales is to have ‘an active nation where everyone can have a lifelong enjoyment of sport’. There is a commitment to developing an active, healthy and successful nation by unleashing the benefits of sport for everyone. Sport Wales strongly believe that the physical literacy concept provides the ideal platform to enable collaboration across sport, education and health, and we have the perfect political storm to bring a theoretical concept to life in practice across the country. And it has already begun.
