DOCUMENT 39 Awelfare Rights Organization Fights FOR THE Rights OF THE Poor (1998)

In 1998 the Kensington Welfare Rights Union of Philadelphia established the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign to highlight national problems of poverty and to build an interracial coalition of poor people with a goal of ending poverty. Using the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a platform, the Union argues that economic security is a human right to which all residents of the United States are entitled.
