[T]he “time” in the time of trauma … is not simply one moment in history during which trauma appears prevalent. The “time of trauma” or “trauma's time” also refers to a radical change in the way we understand the relationship … between time and consciousness, of [trauma's] effects not only on the present, but the past, and—most strikingly—the future.
