ABSTRACT
This chapter surveys some of the main points of connections between theories of natural kinds and Scientific Realism, as traditionally conceived. While realists about kinds have often found common cause with Scientific Realists, the views can come apart. Moreover, recent, epistemically focused trends in natural kinds theorizing challenge the strict adherence of advocates of natural kinds to Realism.
