ABSTRACT

The scientific study of leadership study arose from the work of Max Weber, known as one of the founding fathers of sociology. He questioned status, legitimacy and authority and dedicated much attention to the tension between bureaucracies and leaders, arguing that the inevitable trend towards reasoning in every part of sociology made the leader's role not only increasingly important but also more problematic. One is critical approaches to leadership, which argues that leadership is a socially constructed phenomenon, which is contested and actualised. Social interactions between individuals are the source of leadership as well as other organisational phenomena. The idea that leadership is judgement began to be discussed in Antiquity. Practical knowledge can be developed through continuous evaluation in different stages of organisational development. A leader must make a balance between inputs from the past and the challenges of the future. The leaders are responsible for establishing a vision, showing a few clear goals where knowledge stands out as important.
