ABSTRACT
Technology is being promoted by several original equipment manufacturers (Rolls-Royce, 2016; Wärtsilä Corporation, 2017). BHP Billiton has a vision of the future of dry bulk shipping that comprises safe and efficient autonomous vessels carrying BHP cargo, powered by BHP gas (Bhatti, 2017). The company is seeking partners with which to work on the technology and believes it may happen within a decade.
