ABSTRACT
During the last glaciation vast areas of the Earth's surface were affected by pronounced aridity. As a result, wind action was a particularly effective and widespread agent of geomorphic change. This view contrasts with the old belief that ‘pluvial’ wet conditions prevailed during the last glacial maximum (see Chapter 7).
