ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on a theme recurrent in much literature by and about women - women and madness. Our discussion will encompass a range of concerns raised earlier:
the role of the domestic in women's lives,
writing as a form of work long denied to women, and
the impact of gender-based oppression on women's views of
themselves and their ways of representing themselves in writing.
