Mixed tenure In a liberal society the most successful streets are those you can walk down without knowing or caring about the social background or financial circumstances of the people who live there. The fact that such streets exist at all, and they are mostly restricted to eighteenth-and nineteenthcentury inner-city locations, is largely due to the process of gentrification that has been taking place in these areas since the 1960s.
