ABSTRACT

Skill in soccer has been categorised in terms of technique and decision making (Hughes, 1980). Knapp (1963) described technique as the ability to carry out the necessary motor act, for example, kicking a ball. While she described decision making as knowing what to do in a given situation. The skilful player is the one who can quickly assess when to pass, dribble or shoot. Furthermore he knows which technique to use in order to maximise his chances of successfully carrying out a chosen plan of action.
