ABSTRACT
Israeli Women in Black was founded twenty years ago to demonstrate for peace and against the occupation of the Palestinian territories. Their political activism involves three spatial processes: outing their protest by taking to the streets, locating their protest through strategic siting, and performing their politics, thus redefining the places they occupy. The Haifa chapter has relocated its demonstrations several times in response to political opposition. Observations and interviews support our analysis of the geographical implications of their unique method of demonstration, their locational choices, and the tension between their femininity and activism played out against the city dynamic.

El grupo israelita Mujeres de Negro se fundó hace veinte años para promover manifestaciones públicas por la paz y contra la ocupación de territorios palestinos. Su activismo político es hecho a través de tres procesos espaciales: mostrando sus protestas al tomarse las calles, localizando su protesta al sentarse estratégicamente en el piso y actuando su política, para así redefinir los lugares que se ocupen. En respuesta a la oposición encontrada, el capítulo de Haifa ha cambiado varias veces el lugar donde hace sus manifestaciones. Las observaciones y entrevistas realizadas apoyan nuestro análisis de las implicaciones geográficas que tiene este inusual método de demostraciones, sus opciones locacionales y las tensiones resultantes al enfrentar su carácter femenino y activismo contra la dinámica de la ciudad.
