ABSTRACT

This discussion of copyright issues and the digital library of the future will cover three major areas. First we will examine what the Copyright Act currently provides. What can you now digitize with confidence and where are the limits? We will then consider the state of the debate on the creation, use, and distribution of digital images in the library and archives community. Lastly, we will address the question of how libraries and archives might be able to proceed with digitization even if a work is protected.
