ABSTRACT

Armed violence is a complex phenomenon with many different manifestations across a variety of contexts: from conflict zones and urban armed violence to the use of guns in domestic violence. Addressing its negative impacts is a long-term process and requires developing advocacy strategies that include policy and legislative reform as well as social mobilization. It also requires coordinated action by a variety of actors including national governments, multilateral agencies, international humanitarian institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). 2
