ABSTRACT

The contributors have provided articles for this volume demonstrating their knowledge and experience of disability and disabling situations in the Black community. It is hoped that this information will help the professional community to assist the communities where our disabled families and friends live. The disability situation is a part of many lives and the articles address a few of the many disability situations found in the community, and in the workplace. The goal for this volume is to increase the understanding and awareness of people working with the disabled. It is thought that this book will mobilize advocates, provide alternatives for successful intervention and planning, and encourage research in disability and rehabilitation.
