ABSTRACT
Rangelands-including grasslands, shrublands, and savannas-represent approximately 60 percent of the total area in the Western United States. The multiple use and diverse ownership of these vast lands represent a complex environment from both a scientific and public policy perspective. Information needed to preserve and manage rangelands is critical for all stakeholders, including ranchers, environmentalists, rangeland professionals, policy makers, students, and researchers, as well as the general public. The Rangelands of the Western U.S. web site <http://rangelandswest.org/>;, part of the national Agriculture Network Information Center (AgNIC) Alliance, provides accurate, evaluated information to a diverse community of users.
