ABSTRACT

Today, administrators, staff, and educators at all levels of education are facing increasing challenges in the collection of meaningful and accurate data for making informed program and curricular decisions. Due to rapid advancements in our ability to collect, process, and analyze massive amounts of data, it is now possible for educators to gain new insights into how people learn. Yet, as we consider the enormous potential of data analytics and educational data mining, we must also recognize a myriad of emerging issues and potential consequences to implement them responsibly. To help educational stakeholders respond to these issues, this chapter provides a framework to guide the responsible implementation of data mining and analytics in education.
