ABSTRACT

Consulting is not a “typical 9–5” job, and finding work is an ongoing process. This chapter addresses the nuances of gaining and maintaining employment as a consultant. With the large number of athletes and other professionals who can benefit from performance enhancement services, there are endless work opportunities. This creates the need to be organized and timely. In addition, professionals need to leverage their networks, create new connections, become comfortable with rejection, and know when and how much pro-bono work to do. This chapter also guides novices in determining and having conversations about rates and in developing business plans.
