ABSTRACT
This chapter gives an overview of workforce conditions, qualifications and training for preschool teachers in Serbia. Further, it presents the issue of parents’ participation and community engagement in preschool education in Serbia, with an emphasis on legal and curriculum basis, research and theoretical recommendations on the issue. Cultural constraints and gains around parents’ participation are also addressed. Finally, present-day initiatives to promote parent participation and further democratisation of preschool education in Serbia are presented.
