ABSTRACT

Political and social attention to ECEC has increased in Germany over the past decade due to for example a change in the population structure. This has led to many reforms in the field of ECEC. Despite increased knowledge and significant progress made, several challenges still remain. One of these challenges is related to individual teachers’ professional development. In this chapter we take a closer look at how inclusion and diversity in ECEC is seen in Germany connected to teacher training and mentoring. Also a Germany-led European project, which aimed at developing social justice through teacher training across a number of European countries is presented.
