ABSTRACT
A polyrhythm exists when two or more rhythms occur simultaneously over the same number of beats or divisions. When the polyrhythms involve note groupings that are indivisible, they are often referred to as “cross rhythms,” because the only time notes in each grouping sound together is on the beat.
