ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI) is computer systems mimicking human thinking. The AI system uses a knowledge base into which information has been entered and stored to understand the meaning of the question and produce an answer via an inference engine. The AI knowledge base is actually a database with an advanced reasoning element known as an “inference engine.” Most in-house databases are concerned with the company’s research and operations and will thus exclude information not relevant to those concerns. One inherent risk is that changes in the business environment or management philosophy can render such a database obsolete. The database management system (DBMS) connects users to an actual database. Its structure and operation should be a matter of common knowledge. There are several good references on the market which articulate how to make a DBMS easily accessible to as many target users as possible.
