ABSTRACT

Knowledge workers are no longer bound to a traditional personal desktop and computer combination; therefore, they need flexible and configurable workspaces designed for diverse needs. This also sets new requirements and possibilities to the way mobile ICT devices are used in work environments. In addition, social media services offer new ways of communication between employees, information sharing with partners and public visibility and interaction with companies or public bureaus. Future knowledge work can be characterized by an increased independence from traditional office facilities and traditional ways of working.
