ABSTRACT

In geopolitical terms, interdependence suggests a connection or partnership between countries in an effort to maximize potential of both countries. Ghandi, and others who followed in his philosophy, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., have used the term independence to describe the linkage of people to people. To them, interdependence is the destiny of freedom. The interdependent paradigm is, indeed, a major shift from the four previously-discussed paradigms. The interdependent paradigm acknowledges that some survivors of head injuries do have some difficulties with cognition. If the problem of the interdependent paradigm rests with limited supports and attitudinal barriers, then the root of the problem is found in the system. The actions of the interdependent paradigm are all designed to promote and empower the distantiated person to take more charge of their life. Clearly, self-esteem is a foundation concept in interdependence. The key dimension of interdependence is found in relationships.
