ABSTRACT

The convergence of domestic spaces and digital media and communications technologies is set to undergo a major shift as next-generation broadband infrastructures are installed in many parts of the world. In Australia, this convergence is accelerated by and embodied in the Federal Government’s National Broadband Network (NBN), which will deliver high-speed broadband to the front door of every Australian home using a combination of fiber optic cable, wireless and satellite technologies. In doing so, it is anticipated the NBN will transform the architecture and experience of domestic living.
