ABSTRACT

The 2004 Summer Shift was my first actual experience of CPR. The very fact that this surprises me, and that I have to double-check with myself, says much about the significant role of the Centre in performance praxis nationally and internationally. I feel like I grew-up with CPR. In fact, I've had irregular contact by telephone with the archive and the bookshop and contributed on a couple of occasions to Performance Research. I've chatted to Richard at the odd symposium. A precious handful of my days working as a design tutor in Theatr Y Castell, Aberystwyth were occupied with an Italian company 1 brought over by CPR, who took up temporary residence with us, and joyfully disrupted University of Wales health and safety regulations with indoor fires and dodgy means of perambulating themselves around the lighting rig. The year I left the Department and moved away was the year that CPR arrived in Aberystwyth.
