ABSTRACT

Our view of the world is not primarily constrained by the characteristics of the world but by our ability to make sense out of it and understand it. If we see the world as unchanging, it is not because the world is inherently so but because we are not prepared to change the way we make sense out of it and understand it. An innovation occurs when we conceive of the world, or a part of the world, in a new way. We depart on our ‘research enterprise’ in order to accomplish such innovations.
