ABSTRACT
The past is our international heritage. The perceived borders of prehistoric Europe vary in different periods and publications. In the era of Communist control, Europe was divided into East and West. Thus political changes in Europe associated with the disintegration of the Eastern Bloc and the collapse of the Soviet Union have given a new dimension to the question of the identity of Europe, as the East–West distinction is being gradually transformed into members and non-members of the European Union.
