ABSTRACT
A merican popular culture is deeply connected with the law. Rarely does a year go by without several legal cases capturing the attention of the American public. The year 2000 was no exception. What was perhaps somewhat unusual was that two cases which achieved center stage were in the field of family law. This chapter presents a happy opportunity to discuss important principles of family law with an audience already somewhat familiar with the background details.
