In contemporary Japan, the father has forfeited his authority…. Accordingly, the comic in which “dumb dads” are bringing about the ruin of our schools seems to have become true. So [in December. 1981] the Society ofThunderous Fathers was formed. The founders included a famous actor, a cartoonist, an explorer, a member of the national Diet, and former sumo and boxing champions
