ABSTRACT

Except for a small band of theoreticians, some of whom are among us, the field of differential psychology is a pragmatic undertaking. The contributions of some other applied areas of psychology are arguable, but not those of differential psychology. A selection test of modest validity will improve the quality of a workforce. Achievement tests in our schools, and tests in the hands of clinicians and counselors, are valued diagnostic instruments. Testing is one of psychology’s success stories.
