Zones of Exploration: A Framework for Describing and Designing Student-directed Activities

We are developing a framework and terminology for describing “exploration zones,” the “territory” that students explore in a particular student-directed activity. In this paper, we put forward a framework for describing the structure of an exploration zone, and we illustrate this framework by applying it to an example activity.
