ABSTRACT

On behalf of the editors, it is a privilege to bring to our readers a set of articles written by former colleagues and friends of Jan Hawkins, whose untimely death serves as the sad occasion that motivates the diverse set of scholarly articles you are about to encounter. As Louis Gomez and Roy Pea note in their introduction, Jan was a member of an outstandingly talented group of graduate students who participated in the weekly seminars held in what was then referred to as The Institute for Comparative Human Development during the mid-1970s.
