ABSTRACT

This book has explored what is known about what works, and why, in practising social inclusion in the variety of fields or contexts that deal with human health and wellbeing. While recognising the influence of professionals in service planning, delivery and evaluation, we have also explored how, despite its extensive diversity, the wider community can practise inclusion. In Chapters 2 to 19, the book's various contributing authors have gone beyond identifying mechanisms and processes of exclusion to considering how to work towards inclusion. These chapters provide a diverse range of exemplars of inclusive practice, and illustrate some of the challenges that remain.
