ABSTRACT
All cities are faced with transport problems of one kind or another. Whilst efforts to alleviate such problems in cities of the industrialised nations may have met with some success, efforts to ensure a satisfactory widespread level of mobility in the major urban areas of the Third World have been much less successful.
