ABSTRACT

At Professor Wright’s request, I have written a summary chapter that links past events and theories to the current Middle East peace process. However, in doing so I have decided to confine my remarks to two concepts on its events schema: historical origins which made it possible, and linkages between politics and trade that have served as barriers to productive diplomatics in Arab–Israeli negotiations. I will also make reference to the preceding chapters of this volume, which help engage dialogue in the phenomena associated with what is loosely known as the “Middle East.”
