ABSTRACT

In this chapter I argue that there is a strong similarity between the theory and practice of the co-operative movement and anarchism. Indeed, I would argue that the recent upsurge of co-operatives is one part of the ‘new social movements’, which are themselves anarchism in its latest practical manifestation. 1 This chapter, however, makes the connection only between anarchism and cooperatives, bringing the light of anarchist theory to a subject with which it is not commonly associated.
