ABSTRACT
Many scholars argue that the invention of written language represents a major milestone in human history (e.g., Olson, 1985; Scribner & Cole, 1973). With it, humans achieved the ability to capture information and transport it across time and space. Written language also allows one to return to any segment and reread. This permits contemplation and analysis, including the ability to debug previous comprehension errors.
