ABSTRACT

Recall of stored information is not only a constituent part of every information processing activity but is fundamental to all human thought and action. So it comes as no surprise that recall from memory has long been a central topic of research. Yet it is surprising that most of this research has followed a paradigm which is quite atypical of everyday life. This paradigm consists of presenting some to-be-memorized information, which is later to be recalled as accurately and as completely as possible.
