ABSTRACT
Developmental psychopathology is concerned with the origins and course of maladaptive patterns of behavior, some forms of which represent traditional psychiatric disorders. It involves more than the study of disturbed children, including also the discovery and study of developmental pathways which are the forerunners of disorders both in children and adults. It also includes study of the course of disorders once manifest (their phases and sequelae).
