ABSTRACT
The participants of this volume discuss the evolution of knowing by examining the approaches of evolutionary epistemology and integrative levels. According to evolutionary epistemology, the ultimate cause of differences between the “knowing” of an amoeba and an Einstein is the result of the inheritance of different structures evolved by the species, through a selection process.
