ABSTRACT
I have not really volunteered to take on the topic of maturity. Rather, the issue has pursued me through years of research. Again and again—in relation to timing of fatherhood, in regard to older fathers’ relations with their adult children—maturity was clearly involved. But because the subject seemed the province of ego psychology, I did what most of us do—simply dodged it.
