ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses, in some detail, the system for computer-assisted interpretation of the MCMI-II developed by Professor Millon and distributed by National Computer Systems’ Professional Assessment Services Division (cf. Millon, 1987; National Computer Systems, 1991). Although other computer-assisted test interpretation (CATI) systems for the MCMI-II exist, I have chosen not to deal with them for two reasons. First, those systems are not very well documented. Second, they appear to operate like less sophisticated versions of Millon’s system. In particular, Millon’s system relies heavily on his updated biopsychosocial theory (Millon, 1986a, 1986b) in addition to the empirical data available on the MCMI and MCMI-II. Other systems, on the other hand, appear to make far less use of Millon’s theory. Thus, at this writing, my judgment is that one can readily evaluate the likely utility of other MCMI-II CATI systems by examining the empirical data presented in the MCMI-II manual (Millon, 1987). 1
